John Cleese and Video Arts
Although John Cleese conjures up thoughts of silliness, laughter and Monty Python, he is one of the foremost icons of business training videos. In 1972, with Yes Minister writer Antony Jay and a small group of television professionals, he co-founded Video Arts, where he pioneered the use of humour in training. Now with more than 150 training titles in the Video Arts collection, many featuring John Cleese and his merry band of British actor/comedians – including Hugh Laurie and Dawn French – the Video Arts library is used by more than 30,000 organizations worldwide.
By injecting his trademark humour into each topic, and using his now classic wrong-way, right-way presentation format to illustrate serious business training concepts, the programs entertain and educate at the same time but always produce the desired results. You could even refer to them as 'entertrainment"!
